Mr. Q turned two! To celebrate, we did what he LOVES to do, play on the playground!!!
Despite the high humidity, tiny rain shower, and muggy temperature, we had a fantastic time!
Happy Birthday little guy, it has been so much fun watching you grow up!
It’s the time of year that parents love! The return of the school year!
The biggest complaint I hear from parents every year: School Photos
I hear parents lament about what a waste of money it is to order the traditional school head shots. Their child blinked, made a funny face, had messed up his/her hair by the time it was their turn to sit on the stool for the 5 seconds it took the photographer to snap a yearbook photo. For parents with more than one child in the school system, this can get pretty expensive. The mid level photo package from the school costs around $30. If you have three kids in school, you are paying around $90 for photos. And, if you are honest with yourself, they aren’t even photos that you like! Boring background, harsh lighting, fake smile.
I advise everyone to skip ordering the school photos and just hire a professional portrait photographer! It’s a little more expensive, but you get soooooo much more bang for your buck! No forced smiles. No boring blue or grey backdrops. No filing the photos away in a drawer, never to be seen again.
Back to school photos don’t have to be boring! Spend the money on something that you will cherish and be proud to display on your walls! Do some research and find a portrait photographer that fits with your style. Many photographers feature back-to-school mini sessions too! I promise, it will be worth the time, effort and money!
Check out Kaleb and Alicia’s back to school photos from earlier this week! Colorful, fun, and fast! They did a wonderful job, and their mom was smart to skip the traditional school photos this year!
Check out the video to see all of the fun!
“When you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.” ~Charley Benetto
Motherhood is one of those things that change a woman completely. It isn’t every woman’s cup of tea and I certainly respect that! I remember back when I didn’t think it would be the right path for me, about a million years and four kids ago!
I love relationships of all kinds, but I think that one of my favorites is the relationship between a woman and her child. There is such a strong bond, such an amazing love, that it almost energizes the air around them. This was certainly the case for Brandy and Capri. You can see the overwhelming love they share for each other, you can feel it.
I was lucky enough to be able to get a glimpse. Check it out…
And, as always, the video…
Last weekend Miss Megan came down from Iowa for her Senior photos. We made a day of it and went to several of my favorite spots. Megan was a real trooper about the weeds and the bugs. It paid off! I adore these photos!
And let’s not forget her super fun video!
What a difference 6 months can make!
Henry was such an angel when I first met him, I didn’t think he could get any cuter. Then we got to play together a few weekends ago and he smiled at me! What a charmer! Mom and Dad were completely on board with our less-than-traditional locations for this photo session. We had so much fun, I can’t wait to see him again in another three months!
As always, here is the video!
I adore babies… All babies.
And I think they are all beautiful!
I may be a bit biased in saying that Baby Alice is simply angelic! (She’s my niece)
Alice was a sleepy dream to work with! So sweet and cuddly! Check her out!
I love my job!
Earlier this week I was able to spend the morning with Miss A and her Momma. You saw some of those photos yesterday. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to share the rest until after Mother’s Day, but it seems that Daddy got impatient and wanted to spill the beans thise morning!
Miss A is going to be a big sister later this year!!! Congratulations Erin and Bobby! I can’t wait to meet the new little one!
I am blessed to do what I do. The trust and faith that my clients put in me is so very humbling. Watching these families grow together over the years is the best reward ever. I can remember oh so long ago when I photographed Erin and Bobby’s engagement. And then their wedding. I remember when Erin called to schedule her Maternity photos. I was even more excited when Miss A made her debut on my birthday!
For me, being a portrait photographer is about so much more than snapping some photos here and there. It is about building these relationships and preserving these special moments. I really love my job!
It feels fantastic to be behind the camera again!
I got to spend some time with Miss A this week to celebrate her 2nd birthday. Photographing her was just as much fun as it was when I did her newborn photos. I can’t believe it was 2 years ago!!!!
Here are just a few photos from that session. Many more to come!
I also have a date with the precious Baby Alice tomorrow morning. I adore newborns! And I can’t wait to see Baby Henry for his six month photos on Sunday! Stay tuned for all of the cuteness!
I’d like to take a moment to explain the reason for my five month long absence from the world.
Introducing our darling baby boy, Malcolm Tiberius! (Yes, my husband and I are nerds. We named our child after Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly and Captain James T Kirk from Star Trek.)
He was born on March 6th, weighing in at an unexpected 8lbs 6oz! We thought he would be a bit smaller than that, but it’s ok because I think his chunky little cheeks are adorable!
Thank you to all of our family, friends and my awesome clients for sticking with us during the long break!
We are working on a new website and some fun new ideas for mini sessions later this Spring! I’m hoping to be back behind the camera in the next two weeks, but I am already back in the office, so shoot me an email if you are wanting to book Spring Portraits!
Until then, check out these snapshots of Baby Mal!
Parker Pup meets Mal for the first time. So far so good!
Taking it all in!
Caught Malcolm and Dad having a little afternoon nap.
It’s been far too long! Next week maternity leave ends and I’ll be back to shooting! I’m so excited to see some familiar faces, as well as some new ones!
Thank you to everyone for being so patient and understanding during my extended leave!
I’ll be posting some photos of the adorable reason for the extra long leave of absence soon, so check back for a look at all the cuteness!
If you are interested in booking your Spring portrait session, please send me an email! See you soon!
